Discover your prana to feel more ease.
Moments of stress can be like this; thinking becomes unclear, the heart races, we feel disoriented, we’re unsure of how to proceed. In moments like these it’s likely that most of us have experienced a shift that can happen when we stop and take a deep breath. After the deep breath we feel more connected to the reality that everything is as it is. That moment of space and breath allows us to realize that what’s really needed is a plan to proceed.

Ayurveda explains that prana is what allows us to perceive the plan. Mentally we piece together the sequence of actions that are necessary, the sequence bridges the gap between what we want to accomplish and the now. When the flow of prana isn't steady and robust the body and mind experience levels of disconnect. There is static and the order of how to proceed becomes foggy. Confusion ensues, we lose touch with our patience and overwhelm may be the result.

Manage your prana to experience more energy
Lack of dynamic balance with your own prana can lead to a variety of symptoms. If prana is running too high we might experience overwhelm, anxiety, busy energy and disconnected movement. If prana is depleted symptoms can manifest as low energy, exhaustion and adrenal burnout. A dynamically balanced relationship with your prana consists of pulsations between deep rest and steady vibrant energy.

Yoga = Prana
When we practice yoga we are moving, breathing and feeling into stuck parts of our tissues, thus getting more prana into those previously stagnant spots. Building prana wakes up the intelligence of the cells, leaving our physiology more equip to navigate the day with alert knowing.

One tip to get started
Build your prana potential by getting your breath moving in and out through our nose each morning for about 20 minutes, before you eat. If 20 minutes is not doable, start with 5 and build the habit over time. Depending on your constitution and your needs, the building of prana can be accomplished with: a breathing exercise (pranayama), some sun salutations or standing poses, or a brisk walk. If we fail to get this burst in the morning our access to prana throughout the day is disrupted.

Ayurveda teaches us that when we work with our body’s natural rhythms and get prana moving first thing in the morning we experience less overwhelm and more authentic energy throughout the day.
